Over 120 Years of Local Service in Hallock
Gullander Hardware Hank
In 1893 John Gullander and Theodore Nelson purchased a building which was formerly the Hallock Schoolhouse. They began operating a general hardware and blacksmith shop. A few years later, Nelson took over the blacksmith shop and sold his hardware interest to Gullander.
John Gullander spent his lifetime working in the hardware store. His son, Oscar, continued to run the business after his fathers death in 1938. In 1956, Oscar Gullander's son-in-law James Gustafson began managing the business. James continued to run the business, as well as farm, until he retired in the 1990's. James's son, Tim, took over upon his fathers retirement and currently operates the business with his son, Guy. The current building Gullander Hardware operates in was built in 1995.
